NDA April 27 — what you need to know

The National Defence Academy written examination is scheduled for April 27, 2026 — 24 days from today. The NDA exam has two papers: Mathematics (Paper 1) for 300 marks and General Ability Test (Paper 2) for 600 marks. Total marks: 900. Negative marking applies — 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer. Passing requires clearing cut-offs in both papers separately, not just total score.

NDA 2026 has 400 vacancies: Army 220, Navy 43, Air Force (Flying) 92, Air Force (Ground Duties/Technical) 45. Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for SSB (Services Selection Board) interview which is a 5-day process testing intelligence, personality and physical fitness. The final merit list combines written exam score and SSB marks.

24-day preparation plan

Week 1 (April 3-10): Complete Mathematics revision — focus on Algebra, Trigonometry, Matrices, Statistics and Differential Equations which have the highest weightage. Attempt 2 full-length Math mock papers. For GAT: complete English grammar rules and vocabulary (40 marks section — easy to score). Current affairs: read newspaper daily for 30 minutes focusing on defence, science and sports news.

Week 2-3 (April 11-24): Full mock test every alternate day — analyze every mistake immediately. Physics and Chemistry together carry 100 marks in GAT — prioritize Newton's Laws, Electricity, Atomic Structure and Chemical Bonding. History and Geography carry 80 marks — focus on modern Indian history (1857-1947) and physical geography. Week 4 (April 25-26): Revision only — no new topics. Sleep 8 hours both nights before the exam. Eat light on exam day. Reach the centre 45 minutes early.
